Paducah Power System and West Kentucky Allied Services are now making progress in their effort to aid residents with high power bills.
PPS recently donated $22,000 to WKAS to initiate their “Round-Up” program.
The program allows customers the option of rounding their energy bill up to the nearest dollar and passing the difference on to families in need. WKAS Assistant Director Tony Dowdy says applied families throughout the PPS customer base are eligible to receive up to $75 to alleviate energy costs.
"What we do is we take applications in our McCracken County office and if they're in need, we are able to held them toward a bill that they're pass due or have received a disconnect notice on," said Dowdy.
Dowdy says to be eligible, customers must provide social security cards for everybody in the household, have income within 125 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and their pass due bill.
