MSU Racer Athletics

The Murray State men’s basketball team has been ranked25thin the nationby the Associated Press after notching their 24th consecutive win over the weekend.

The team knocked off UT Martin Saturday to become undefeated in Ohio Valley Conference play, earning their first ranking in three years. That win streak shatters a school and conference record.

Coach Steve Prohm says the ranking helps put his team’s hard work on the radar.

“Hopefully, people will start looking at –I mean, this is twice in the last four years now- so hopefully we can start to garner respect nationally, and this is another step in that process.”

MSU's last loss came in a 58-93 blowout to Valparaiso. Sophomore guard Cameron Payne says that loss brought the team together.

“We didn’t have our flow. Ever since that game in Nashville, we said ‘man, we’ve got to work’ and I guess we started going harder and the production started to flow.”

The Racers enter Ohio Valley Conference Tournamentplay Friday in Nashville as the number one seed.
