Barricades in Front of 432 Broadway in Paducah Coming Down

Lance Dennee, WKMS

The barricades at Broadway and 5th in downtown Paducah are coming down today and tomorrow. The City of Paducah says in a news release a three-way stop will remain in place until further notice.

The city is in the process of demolishing the condemned building at 432 Broadway. Next week, a separate contractor will begin constructing an 18 by 114-foot wall on the exterior of the building adjacent to 432. Previously, Director of Planning Steve Erwin said this wall will cost $158,000 dollarsto stabilize the building.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
