Murray, KY -- Murray State's public radio service 91.3 WKMS continues airing special programs Thursdays at noon with Power and Smoke: A Nation Built on Coal, on March 3.

Murray, KY – Observing the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit, WKMS airs a special Front Page -- Chinese Culture In and Around Murray Friday, February 11 at noon, and again Sunday February 13 at 9:00 a.m.

Meet Chinese residents and visitors - many who come from big cities - now settling in our rural region. Learn how these new neighbors view our cuisine, dating styles, internet freedoms and religious values.

Murray, KY – Chad Lampe, News Director for WKMS, is the newly-elected Chairman of the Kentucky Public Radio Editorial Board. Lampe is a Murray State University graduate and has worked at WKMS since 2005. Originally a student reporter, he has served in his current position as News Director since 2007. Notably, Lampe has received many Kentucky Associated Press awards including 1st place recognition for coverage of the 2009 ice storm.

With the help of historian Berry Craig, WKMS News has begun a weekly feature series - Kentucky Civil War Dispatches - to chronicle what was happening in Kentucky as the nation descended into civil war to mark the Civil War Sesquicentennial Year.

Murray, KY – Murray State's listener supported public radio service WKMS is now broadcasting Travel with Rick Steves, Sundays at 6 p.m., following Car Talk. Rick Steves has a nationally successful multi-media travel business and brings his expertise to public radio as well.

Murray, KY – Information about NPR's dismissal of Commentator Juan Williams

NPR has terminated the contract of Senior News Analyst Juan Williams, due to remarks made on The O'Reilly Factor on Mon., October 18, that were inconsistent with NPR's editorial standards and practices.

NPR's David Folkinflik will have a piece on ATC today, Thurs., October 21, concerning Williams' termination. A column from NPR Ombudsman Alicia Shepard posted around noon ET today. Read it here
