In the latest installment of the WKMS documentary series focusing on regional history and culture, VEEP: The Life and Times of Alben Barkley, producer Todd Hatton goes beyond Kentuckian Alben Barkley’s biography to offer listeners a look at the “Veep’s” profound accomplishments and life behind the scenes.

Wednesday Heidi Shultz, President of Independence Bank was joined by co-workers Cristina Ojeda-Garrison and Tamara Phillips, as they presented a $1776 check to The Gentry House in Murray as part of a philanthropy partnership with WKMS listeners this spring.

WKMS is proud to announce another set of awards for its newsroom. The Kentucky Associated Press notified WKMS News that its work in 2015 for Murray State’s listener-supported public radio service has taken home KAPB awards, including the First Place award for station website and Second Place awards for Long and Short Light News Features.

Feel the love with WKMS local music hosts this Valentine’s Day! Here's the rundown of romantic programming: 

WKMS

Murray State President Bob Davies has named Chad Lampe as the new station manager of WKMS, effective February 1, 2016. Lampe served as the WKMS news director since 2007 and as interim station manager during the national search for the position.

The Ohio River Network, a regional journalism collaboration, has hired veteran journalist Jeff Young as its managing editor.
