'I Had No Idea' It's National Eating Disorders Week

Next week is National Eating Disorders Week, with the theme of "I Had No Idea" for 2015. Many people who are aware of eating disorders may not think they have one, but the campaign seeks to educate people on healthy methods of managing weight along with empowerment activities that help individuals embrace positive qualities in themselves as opposed to an unrealistic ideal. Murray State's Women's Center Director Abigail French discusses events at Murray State University for the awareness week, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Underwriter Spotlight: SEVA Fitness in Paducah

WKMS welcomed another new underwriter recently - Eric Romanak and SEVA Fitness in Paducah. You might be tempted to think of barbells and treadmills and lots of lycra when you think about fitness, but that's not really what SEVA Fitness is about. 

Eric explains what he does as a "health first" approach, meaning instead of just working to "look better," SEVA Fitness strives to help you "feel better" by teaching holistic fitness and health. As a health and wellness coach, Eric offers personal, individualized training incorporating practices like yoga and martial arts to help with mobility, strength, athleticism and even weight loss.

Community Initiatives at the Murray-Calloway County United Way

Kate Lochte speaks with Aaron Dail, Executive Director of the Murray-Calloway County United Way, on Sounds Good. They talk about the transformation of the United Way involving community conversations and community change, and efforts being made on a local level. Three of their current focus areas are educational attainment, income stability for families, and healthy living/healthy lifestyles. Richmond Hospital Joins Baptist Health System

The Baptist Health System in Kentucky has added a sixth hospital. Richmond’s Patti A Clay Hospital is changing its name and joining the system. The Madison County healthcare provider is now Baptist Health Richmond.  CEO Todd Jones says it was either  change or face a ‘sink or swim’ scenario.
