Djorn Buchholz will be Louisville City FC's first team president.

Louisville’s new soccer team, Louisville City FC, has announced hiring its first president.

Djorn Buchholz has 13 years of soccer executive experience, including management and fan engagement positions. He’s worked with soccer clubs in Indiana, Minnesota and Texas, according to a release sent by the soccer clubs PR team.

World Cup Ratings Spike: How Popular Is Soccer In The U.S.?

Sunday's thrilling and frustrating World Cup match between the U.S. and Portugal drew an average of 24.7 million viewers, according to the Nielsen ratings company, a result that puts the game above the recent NBA finals.

The game's total U.S. viewership of 24.7 million includes ratings from both ESPN (18.2 million viewers) and the Spanish-language Univision (6.5 million); it doesn't include the 1.37 million people ESPN says streamed the game online.

Kentucky BOE To Consider Organizing Middle School Athletics

Bee Creek Soccer Complex Fire

Murray Police are investigating the cause of a fire at the Bee Creek Soccer Complex Monday night. Calloway County Fire officials say the fire destroyed the complex’s concession and storage building. They believe the fire was not accidental. The blaze destroyed approximately 50,000 dollars worth of equipment. Murray Soccer Association President Steve Wilhelm says despite the damages the program will stay on schedule. Registration for the spring season begins February 11 at the Chamber of Commerce.
