New For-Profit College Panel

For-profit colleges in Kentucky would be subject to a new oversight panel under a bill that’s cleared the legislature and now heads to the governor.  The measure creates the 11-member Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education made up of four representatives from for-profit colleges and four at-large members with backgrounds in education and business.  It also includes the state's education secretary, education commissioner and the Council on Postsecondary Education president.  The legislation gives the commission authority to hire staff to monitor and to investigate complaints about for-
