Don't Be #Intexticated: The Dangers of Texting and Driving

The Paducah Business and Professional Organization recently sponsored an event to raise awareness of the dangers of texting while driving. Captain Donald Hodgson of the Paducah Police Department made a presentation along with Hillary Coltharp, a young Paducah woman who was severely injured in an automobile accident while she was texting and driving. Kate is joined by Captain Hodgson to learn more about the campaign.

Missing Calloway Co. Teen Found Safe

UPDATE: 11:10 a.m. July 7:

A missing girl from Calloway County has been found. 

"Gabrielle was located in Paducah and is safely back with her family," said Mike Gowen, Gabrielle's father. "We would like to thank the community for all the help locating her, especially the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, the Paducah Police Department and the Paris Police Department."

Paducah City Commission Set to Approve Union Contracts with Police and Fire Departments

With four months left until contracts with the police and fire unions is set to expire, the Paducah City Commission is expecting to pass agreements with the Paducah Police Bargaining Unit and Paducah Fire Fighters Local 186.

Paducah Police Chief Resigns

Paducah Police Chief James Berry has resigned to take a position as Kentucky State University’s Director of Safety and Security Affairs.

City Manager Jeff Pederson accepted Berry’s resignation this morning, which takes effect Aug. 9. Berry begins his new position in Frankfort Aug. 16.

Paducah Boy Home After Bullying Incident

A 12 year old Paducah boy is recovering at home after spending several days at Vanderbilt Hospital following an alleged attack by another boy last Sunday.

Paducah police have charged a 13 year old has with fourth-degree assault in connection with the incident. Ian Poole told police he and was playing with two friends on the Morgan Elementary School playground when a youth approached him and punched him.

Paducah Walgreens Robbed at Gun Point

Paducah Police officers are looking for two suspects who allegedly robbed a Paducah Walgreens. Police report two armed robbers came into the store at around 4:30 a.m. today, and took an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

Man with Body in Shopping Cart Arrested for Murder

One man is dead and another jailed after an apparent fight led to a murder early Friday in Paducah. Police responded to a call early yesterday after someone saw a man pushing a shopping cart with a body in it.
