Kentucky Legislative Committee Subpoenas Managed Care Providers

Frankfort, KY – For only the second time in its history, a Kentucky legislative committee will issue subpoenas...This time over Medicaid managed care and locally-owned pharmacies.

The Program Review and Investigations Committee voted today to authorize subpoenas to Kentucky's three new managed care providers over reimbursement rates to independent pharmacies. Passport, based in Louisville, is exempt from the subpoena.

Tornado Touches Down in Calloway County

Hazel, KY – National Weather Service officials confirm an EF 1 tornado touched down Sunday night in Hazel. The twister occurred around 11 p.m. with peak winds of 95 miles per hour, and a path 100 yards wide and 5 and a half miles long. Reports show hundreds of trees uprooted or snapped as well as damage to one house and numerous garages and barns. Damage is estimated at $50,000. Officials say no one was injured or killed.

McCracken County Fiscal Court Approves Sick Days

Paducah, KY – The McCracken County Fiscal Court voted Tuesday to approve the payment of more than $48,000 to a former county judge-executive. In a 3 to 1 vote, the Court approved payment for sick and vacation days to Danny Orazine, who retired as county judge-executive in 2006. Commissioner Zana Renfro said that the Court decided not to allow elected officials to accumulate vacation and sick days in 2007. However, she voted to pay Orazine because he retired before the change.

Murray, KY – In OVC women's basketball action, the Murray State Racer's beat Longwood 86-77, Tennessee Tech downed Jacksonville State 65-59, Eastern Illinois defeated Tennessee State 88-73, SIU Edwardsville beat Austin Peay 72-61, and UT Martin put down Morehead State 81-61.

Murray State Moves Up to 11, Still Undefeated

Murray, KY – The Murray State men's basketball team is up one spot to number 11 in this week's top 25 AP poll. This follows two conference wins on the road last week keeping their undefeated record intact. Murray State at 20-0 is now the only undefeated team in the nation after Syracuse fell this weekend to Notre Dame.
