"How I Became A Pirate" Opens at Market House Theatre

Ahoy Mateys! A new musical adventure docks in Paducah tonight (February 27) through March 9. "How I Became A Pirate" tells the story of a young boy who gets recruited by a friendly pirate captain and his whacky mates to help in the search for buried treasure. Along the way, they learn that real treasure can't be found on a map. April Cochran, Education Director for Paducah's Market House Theatre directs the production, and gives a preview on Sounds Good.

Market House Theatre Opens the Year with New Farce

Paducah's Market House Theatre opens 'The Fox on the Fairway' tonight (January 16). It's a tribute to golf and to the great English farces of the 1930's and 40's. Playwright Ken Ludwig said in a 2010 interview that the play is "really about love - and the joys and angst and craziness of love - in two different eras of our life." Kate Lochte speaks with Market House Director Michael Cochran, who is directing the production that runs through January 26.

Market House Theatre Celebrates 50 Years

Market House Theatre in Paducah kicks off its 50th Anniversary Season this month so Executive Director Michal Cochran visits with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to talk about the golden time and an upcoming Community Street Fair, on August 24 - featuring art, music, dance and drama. They also talk about the first production of the season, Godspell, opening in September, and some other events and activities coming up at Market House Theatre. Turning an Old Church into a Spa in Market House Play "Hallelujah Girls"

This weekend, the "feisty females of Eden Falls, Georgia," are on stage at Paducah's Market House Theatre's production of "The Hallelujah Girls", a joyful comedy written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, authors of "The Dixie Swim Club". Yesterday, Kate Lochte spoke with "Hallelujah Girls" director Bonnie Daniels.

Paducah Pool, Historic Building Renovations Discussed

Paducah city commissioners introduced ordinances for two major renovation projects at their Tuesday night meeting.  One continues the second phase of the Noble Park swimming pool renovation. It will include gutter and drain replacement, filtration, disinfection, pumping and other repairs. Bidding for the third phase starts in early 2013. The other authorizes the start of renovation on the Market House building and the River Discovery Center. Commissioner Gayle Kaler says she worked with the city manager and the city engineer-public works director for two years to get the buildings repaired.
