Two weeks from now, polls will be open across the commonwealth for Kentucky’s gubernatorial and constitutional offices election. But there are also a couple local races to keep an eye on. Voters in Marshall and Calloway counties will elect a new circuit judge after Dennis Foust announced earlier this year his retirement from the 42nd Judicial Circuit.

Two local attorneys have announced their candidacies for the 42nd circuit judicial seat as Judge Dennis Foust steps down after 18 years in the post.

Jamie Jameson, a public advocate in Murray and Marshall County Attorney Jeff Edwards announced their candidacies via press release this morning.

Controversy over allegations that Marshall County’s Judge-Executive signed documentation stating a county employee had been laid off when he’d actually retired has made its way to Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway. Marshall’s Fiscal Court met Tuesday to approve an outside report by Louisville attorney Kent Wicker that alleges Mike Miller signed the paperwork that could allow the former part-time county employee to receive unemployment benefits.
