Holiday shopping begins with several local art sales and festivals around the region this weekend. Murray Art Guild's director Debi Danielson joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good because tonight, tomorrow and Sunday the Miller Center on Murray's Courthouse Square features the cornucopia of items available in its annual Holiday Sale, featuring a variety of mediums crafted by local artists.

Murray State's MFA in Creative Writing Program Director Ann Neelon visits Kate Locte on Sounds Good to read a selection of favorite poems for the holiday season. They also talk about the upcoming MFA residency, visiting writers, and the latest issue of the New Madrid literary journal.


Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday says teachers could faces layoffs and school districts could fail financially if education funding is not restored.

Holliday has pushed lawmakers to restore per-pupil funding levels to pre-recession levels. That request is more than $250 million dollars for the two-year budget that lawmakers will set when they return next year.
