Kentucky Launches a Child Support Website

Officials have launched a new website to simplify the child support process for families in Kentucky. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services says the Child Support Enforcement Program website allows the public and employers to securely access their cases and account information, apply for child support, locate a child support office, make payments and estimate child support payment. Officials say the Child Support Enforcement office collected more than $407 million in child support payments last year. Here's a link to the website.

Haslam Signs Tennessee $31 Billion Spending Plan

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has signed the state's more than $31 billion dollar annual spending plan. The budget includes a reduced sales tax on groceries, an increase in the exemption for the inheritance tax, and enhanced penalties for gang and gun crimes.

Illinois Senate Committee Passes Minimum Wage Bill

Illinois lawmakers are considering a plan to increase the state minimum wage and let it rise automatically in the future. A Senate Executive Committee approved the plan 9-5 yesterday, but even bill sponsor Senator Kimberly Lightford says more work is needed before it could become law.
