A Kentucky state legislator has pre-filed a pair of bills to reduce civil penalties against bystanders who break into hot cars to free trapped children and pets.  

According to the National Safety Council, 44 children died in 2014 from vehicular heatstroke in the United States.

Both of Paducah’s state legislators are working on bills to lift Kentucky’s nuclear moratorium this upcoming legislative session.  

Republican State Sen. Danny Carroll says he’s working on a measure lifting the ban on construction of nuclear reactors within the state.  

A bill to eliminating the ban passed the Senate last session but stalled in the House.

Carrol, the president of Easter Seals West Kentucky says, in business, decisions tend to be black or white.  He says he’s quickly learning that in the legislative process, there are a lot of gray areas.

The state Senate this week passed a bill that would lift a moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants in Kentucky.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Danny Carroll, a Republican from Paducah. His district is home to the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, which has been in the process of shutting down.

Carroll said lifting the moratorium would help bring jobs that have been lost at the plant.

Republican Danny Carroll has been elected to the Kentucky State Senate’s 2nd District Seat. Carroll secured a victory Tuesday night over Democrat Jeff Parker by over 7,000 votes.
