Afternoon Round-Up 9/16/12

This is the first generation of Liberians who didn't lose their teenage years in the civil war. More than a quarter of a million people were killed in the 14 years of fighting that ended in 2003.

Today on NPR: Krumping is a form of dance that originated in California and — with the help of DVDs and the Internet — has made its way to Dunbar and other kids in the West African nation of Liberia. Founded by freed American slaves, the country embraces all things American.

Japanese Dance Troupe Iwami Kagura Visits Murray State's Wrather Auditorium

As temperatures fall and the season begins to change from summer to autumn, harvest festivals around the northern hemisphere are starting to wind up. In Japan, one of the traditions for the fall is the Kagura dance. Murray State College of Humanities and Fine Arts Dean Dr. Ted Brown, with help from members of the MSU Theatre department and Wrather Museum is bringing the Japanese dance troupe Iwami Kagura to the university next Tuesday.
