How Much Screen Time is Too Much?

   With the average American spending over half of their day looking at a screen, it's now hard to imagine a modern society without TVs, computers, or cell phones. Dr. Michael Bordieri visits Sounds Good to discuss the role of these devices in today's society, and whether there is ever "too much" screen time. 

A robot that helps teach computer programming is a rising star in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classes in Kentucky. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte meets the French-made robot and its handlers from the Kentucky Academy of Technology Education in Murray State's College of Education and Human Services.

One of the agencies contracted to clean up the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant is donating used computer equipment to a local technical school.

DUF6, a uranium cleanup project of Babcock and Wilcox Conversion Services, transferred 223 computers and printers to the Fulton County Area Technical Center in Hickman late last month.

Principal Tom Pyron said the center, which provides technology and trade education for area high school students, was under budget pressure that the donation relieves.

Illinois state officials are donating computers from the federal government to help veterans find jobs.  The Illinois Department of Central Management Services and state Veterans Affairs says 100 refurbished computers will be given to organizations throughout the state so veterans can get online access to job training and state and federal resources.
