A couple of farmers settle a dispute over a property line with a shoot out on main street in Cadiz. A young man decides to host a fish fry, using dynamite to catch the fish. A Trigg County man moves to Florida to run mail up and down the beach until he disappeared one day... the rumor goes he was eaten by an alligator. These are just some of the historical accounts of "Dining with the Dearly Departed" a now sold-out event by Southern Kentucky Independent Theatre Group in Cadiz this weekend. Paul Fourshee joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good with more.

Cadiz resident Mike Conver's novel Small Forces captures a credible high school world of kids, parents, and teachers dealing with learning disabilities, drug dealers and retirement- focused administrators. Kate speaks with the educator-turned-author about his new book on Sounds Good.

The Janice Mason Art Museum presents "An Island is Unreliable," a new exhibition featuring work by sculptor Cody Arnall and photographer Sarah Phyllis Smith. The work explores how objects become a part of a visual language for constructing and understanding our relationships with time, place, and memory. Kate Lochte speaks with Dr. Gregg Rentfrow of the UK Extension Faculty about how to judge country hams. The 37th Annual Trigg County Country Ham Festival takes place this weekend and many people are bringing hams for judging. Dr. Rentfrow talks about the criteria: confirmation, which is the overall shape of the ham, how plump it is, and whether it has a pleasing shape - like a classic teardrop; workmanship, the ability to clean the ham up - extra curing, mold (yes, mold! he explains this), etc.; and color and aroma! See more about the Trigg County Country Ham Festival on Facebook.

WKDZ's Melissa Noel has the scoop on this weekend's 37th Annual Trigg County Country Ham Festival. UK Extension event organizers who started the Festival said they had to choose between hams and moonshine in celebrating a local product and they thought they ought to go with hams. Kate Lochte speaks with Melissa about the Trigg County tradition and this year's events, October 11 - 12 in downtown Cadiz. See more at

Southern Kentucky Independent Theatre's Paul Forshee describes the group's September 20th and 21st "Dining with the Dearly Departed" event. It's a new format this year: Actors travel through time portraying owners of acreage now called RB Farms; it all happens under a large wedding style tent with a catered dinner to boot on September 20 and 21 at RB Farms near Kenny Rogers' house on Old Hopkinsville Road near Gracey. A cast of nearly twenty actors will depict nearly a dozen families through history, all whom shared the same farm (the current owners will be portraying themselves.)
