R. T. Vanderbilt Expands Operations in Murray

Chemical manufacturer R. T. Vanderbilt plans to invest $13.5 million in its Murray plant. The money will go toward new equipment and construction. The company announced today it will also add seven new jobs as part of the project.

Paducah's Convention Center finances stabilizing

Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center Corporation Chairman Phil McIntosh says operations at the Julian Carroll Convention Center are stabilizing after former executive director J. Patrick Kerr embezzled more than $230,000 in center funds. McIntosh says he thinks the center will continue to need financial assistance from the city and county until a new hotel built adjacent to the center can replace those funds.

Citywide yard sale set for Murray

Next month, bargain hunters from around the region will be able to shop all of Murray during its Fall Citywide Yard Sale. The date for this year's event is set for September 15th.  Those interested in selling items must send in a $10 entry fee to be listed on a map. The fee will go toward the city's July Fourth celebrations.  For out-of-towners or those who don't want to sell from their homes, parking lot spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  You can find more information and this year's application here.

Hopkins Co. logging truck ordinance to include commercial traffic

A proposed ordinance to help save Hopkins County money on road repairs by holding logging trucks accountable for road damage may be amended to include all commercial traffic. The original ordinance calls for all logging companies, especially those not local to Hopkins County to preregister with the county before starting work and fining those who don’t.
