Murray State University's 13th President Dr. Bob Davies visits the WKMS studios for the first of a series of monthly conversations on the state of the university. 

Monday marks the first day of work for new Murray State University president Bob Davies, who comes to MSU after five years in the same post at Eastern Oregon University.

Murray State’s next president, Bob Davies, says while MSU is focusing on helping Mid-Continent University students after their school’s closure, it is also discussing its role in the future of the Mayfield facility.

Murray State University President-elect Bob Davies says he wants to push the university to compete for funds and look for new revenue sources as it faces budget cuts from the state.

The Murray State University Board of Regents named two presidents today during the Board’s quarterly meeting.

Current President Tim Miller has had “interim” listed before his title. Today, the board officially named Miller the 12th President of Murray State. A teary-eyed Miller was “completely surprised” by the announcement.

It appears serendipitous that Dr. Bob Davies is a finalist for Murray State’s Presidency. Davies says his teenage daughter, who has a desire to be the Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park, earnestly told him that for her to achieve that goal she’d need to attend Murray State University for its pre-vet program and equine science program.

Murray State Presidential Candidate Robert (B0b) O. Davies  is the first to visit campus. Davies is one of two finalists for MSU's top job. A third candidate self-selected out of consideration due to health concerns.
