Kentucky’s remaining constitutional officers were sworn in Monday, with all but one of the five posts changing hands.

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, a Democrat elected to a second term, was the only official sworn in Monday who had previously served in a statewide positions.

Hopkinsville's State Senator Whitney Westerfield has filed his candidacy for Kentucky Attorney General, a day after saying he may enter the race. 

His announcement makes him the only Republican in the race. 

Westerfield, 34, says his goal is to make the Attorney General's office more efficient.

Kentucky State Senator Whitney Westerfield,a Republican from Hopkinsville, might put his name in the currently unopposed race for Kentucky Attorney General. Westerfield said he doesn’t want current candidate Democrat Andy Beshear to be Kentucky’s only option.

Louisville attorney Andy Beshear, the son of Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, announced he is running for attorney general in 2015.

The younger Beshear has been a rumored candidate for much of this year to succeed incumbent Jack Conway, who is term-limited. 

Andy Beshear launched his campaign website on Thursday, and filed paperwork to run as a Democrat. He is the first candidate to declare his intentions two years ahead of the election.
