Bechler takes Kentucky House 4th district seat

Republican Lynn Bechler turned Kentucky's 4th district house of representatives seat from blue to red  Tuesday night. The fourth district includes Caldwell, Crittenden, Livingston Counties and part of McCracken. Retiring democrat Mike Cherry held the seat for 13 years. Bechler beat democrat Raymond Gianini 57 percent to 43 percent. Gianini conceded the race after the final numbers came in from Livingston County, giving Bechler a 1,200 vote lead in the race.

Heath Wins Ky. District 2 State House Seat

Graves County Republican Richard Heath has won Kentucky's 2 district state house seat. The second district includes all of Graves county and southern McCracken.  Heath beat democrat Kelly Whitaker with 54 point 8 percent of the vote. Whitaker lost with 45 point 2 percent of the vote but says she ran a good campaign. She says,

“This is not the results that I had planned on or hoped for, and we may have lost this race but we’re definitely not defeated. I’m extremely proud of all my supporters, and the campaign that we have run has maintained a positive approach and we have not been negative at all.”

Westerfield Edges Out Victory Over Incumbent Pendleton

Republican challenger Whitney Westerfield edged out long-time Democratic Senator Joey Pendleton in yesterday’s vote. Unofficial third district state Senate results show Westerfield with 50.4 percent of the vote, winning slight leads in Christian, Logan and Todd counties.

Imes Wins Fifth District Ky. House Seat

Republican Kenny Imes beat out Democrat Hal Kemp for Kentucky’s fifth district state House of Representatives seat. Unofficial results showed Imes with 55.9 percent of the vote, and Kemp with 45.1. The Murray Republican won Calloway County by about nine percent. He gained a near 30 point victory in Trigg County. Imes says though the job is a part-time commitment, he plans to put full-time effort into it.

Humphries Gains 20-Point Victory Over Hubbard

Republican Stan Humphries enjoyed a 20-point victory over Democrat Carroll Hubbard for the Kentucky first district senate seat. Humphries got 59.3 percent of the vote, and Hubbard got 40.7 percent. Voters chose Humphries over Hubbard in six of the seven counties in the first district. The Cadiz Republican won by the biggest margins in his home county of Trigg, and Calloway County. Humphries says he’ll continue the work done by former first district state Senator Ken Winters.
