About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Junior Achievement West Kentucky Brings Programs to the Purchase

According to the national website of Junior Achievement, the non-profit organization provides schools with programs about young people generating wealth and effectively managing it, creating jobs which make their communities more robust, and applying entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Junior Achievement West Kentucky President Dan Douglas is based in Owensboro, but its programs are in schools throughout the Pennyrile and now, in the Purchase Area.

Kentucky author  and Calloway County native Bobbie Smith Bryant holds a talk about the social and cultural experience of life on the farm at Calloway County Public Library. Her two books are Passions of the Black Patch: Cooking & Quilting in Western Kentucky and Forty Acres & A Red Belly Ford: The Smith Family of Calloway County. MSU Symphony Orchestra & Symphonic Band Perform Final Concert Tonight

The Murray State University Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band present their final concert of the Spring semester tonight (April 24) in Lovett Auditorium. The program includes works by Wagner, Dvorak, Vaughan Williams, Clifton Williams, Fred J. Allen, and Todd Stalter. MSU Band Director John Fannin visits Sounds Good with a preview of the performance.

Moscow Festival Ballet Comes to WKCTC's Clemens Fine Arts Center

The classic Tchaikovsky ballet "Swan Lake" is performed at Paducah's West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Clemens Fine Arts Center tomorrow night (April 24) at 7:30 p.m. Fifty dancers of the Moscow Festival Ballet perform the great work. There's lots of traffic in Paducah because 2014's American Quilters Society Quilt Week is underway through Saturday. Winners were announced Wednesday night and you can see these remarkable works of art at aqsshows.com. Bonnie Browning is the Executive Show Director, and has been for many years, as well as being a quilter and author in her own right. Public Innovator Rich Harwood Brings Reclaiming Main Street Campaign to Murray

Rich Harwood is the founder and president of the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, based in Bethesda, Maryland. That's a nonprofit group that facilitates community discussions, like the one he participated in with the community of Newtown, Connecticut deliberating on what should be done with the school after the shooting of children at Sandy Hook Elementary.

He's also the author of a number of books, including "The Work of Hope: How Individuals and Organizations Can Authentically Do Good." What was to have been a book tour grew into his "Reclaiming Main Street Campaign," with a goal of growing more public innovators across the nation. Kate Lochte speaks with Harwood on Sounds Good.

MSU Theatre Presents "Dog Sees God" A Dark Satire Inspired by "Peanuts"

When CB's dog dies from rabies, he begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His sister has gone goth, his ex-girlfriend has been institutionalized., and his other friends are too inebriated to give him solace. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful. Murray State Theatre's Daryl Phillipy joins Tracy Ross on Sounds Good to preview this weekend's mature-audiences production of Bert V. Royals' "Dog Sees God - Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" - a parody inspired by the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles Schulz.
