About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Against a backdrop of the Progressive Era, including presidential elections, campaigns for equal suffrage, war in Europe and opening the Panama Canal, Daughters of the American Revolution in North Carolina initiated a project to mark the trail of Daniel Boone that enabled America's Western Movement. Daniel Boone Scholar, Randell Jones, wrote "Trailing Daniel Boone - Marking Daniel Boone's Trail 1912 to 1915." The Captain Wendell Oury Chapter of the DAR invited Mr. Jones to Murray to learn more about his book. Mr. Jones speaks with Kate Lochte.

Puppies Sound Good: Meet Winston & Houston

Today we met two brothers, Winston (mostly white) and Houston (mostly black). They are two adorable border collie-labrador retriever-red heeler mixes up for adoption at the Humane Society of Calloway County. These two pups were very low key and sleepy when they came up to the station, but full of love for everyone who came to greet them. Once we took them into the studio, they got some energy and played with each other during the human conversation. They will grow up to be very intelligent and active mid-sized dogs that need good homes and owners who will keep them busy.

More on Houston from Petfinder.

More on Winston from Petfinder.
