Murray State's listener supported public radio service 91.3 WKMS is fundraising for three days, July 20, 21, and 22, to help fund special projects and regular station operations. The special 3-Day Mid Summer Mini Fundraiser goal is $20,000 from listeners and businesses in the station's coverage area: western Kentucky, southernmost Illinois, and northwest Tennessee.

Recent severe weather in the region resulted in lightening damage to the WKMS transmission line and antenna that needs immediate repair. The station will also raise local matching funds to buy a stand-by generator and install air-conditioning to avoid damage to the electronics in the operations center located in the Price Doyle Fine Arts building on Murray State's campus.

WKMS Station Manager, Kate Lochte, expresses gratitude to loyal WKMS listeners for their constant financial support, and hopes to reach a special group of listeners who vacation in the lakes area during the summer months. "We're lucky to be situated in a region so full of summer recreation activities and vacation spots. When people visit our region I hope that they consider WKMS their public radio station away from home."

Once the drive concludes the station will giveaway a three night getaway package to Prizer Point Marina & Resort, in Cadiz (an estimated value of $1,144). There will also be special drawings for prize packages to Kenlake State Resort Park and Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina.

WKMS offers in-depth news, analysis, discussion and a variety of music on 91.3 FM which is also its HD-1 channel at the same frequency. WKMS offers the Classical 24 channel on its HD-2 channel, which also airs at 92.5 FM, Paducah and 105.1 FM, Madisonville. WKMS operates with funding from individuals, underwriters, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Murray State University.

See a schedule of WKMS programs at www.wkms.org. Send contributions to WKMS at 2018 University Station, Murray, KY 42071. Checks should be made payable to WKMS/MSU Foundation. The station's media services include 91.3 WKMS, Murray; WKMS HD-1 and All-Classical HD-2; 90.9 WKMD, Madisonville; 89.5 WKMT, Fulton; 99.5 Paris, TN; and All-Classical 92.5 Paducah and 101.5 Madisonville.
