Western Union has agreed to pay an estimated $6.8 million dollars to Kentuckians who have been victims of fraud induced wire transfers.

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear said on Tuesday that much of the money will go to repay senior citizens who have been targeted by scams using the financial services company.

The national settlement requires Western Union to develop an anti-fraud program designed to help detect and prevent incidents.

As attorney general, Beshear has made scam prevention and awareness a priority.
