Cadiz, KY – The Lake Barkley Water District plans to begin a $7.5 million system improvement project later this year. General Manager Terry Goins says the work will double the district's capacity. Five point four million dollars of the funding comes from a USDA loan, and Goins says they'll repay that with a rate increase. Goins says the base rate for customers will likely go up a little over a dollar fifty this coming fiscal year. Construction is slated for October, and Goins says the project will be finished in 2012.
