Waste Management Agency Removes Asbestos from Site

By AP

Bardwell, KY – Kentucky's waste management division has finished its emergency cleanup work at a Carlisle County demolition site. The agency removed about 2,500 tons of debris contaminated with asbestos. Deena Products in Arlington, the one-time electroplating operation where lamp fixtures were made, closed in the late 1980s. A recent demolition of some remaining buildings led to the discovery that asbestos was present in some of the debris. Cleanup cost the state about $400,000.
