Walmart Expands Grocery Pickup Services in Kentucky

For some Kentuckians, Walmart is now offering a game changer when it comes to grocery shopping.

The retail giant began offering online ordering and curbside pick-up Wednesday at its two Bowling Green stores. Andrew Myers is the assistant manager of e-commerce and he said the company is changing with the times.

“You know everything is going to online. The customer is wanting to shop from home as much as possible and the next evolution of that is just the grocery business,” said Myers.

Shoppers can select their items online, drive to the store and have personal shoppers load their groceries without the customer ever leaving their vehicle. Myers more shoppers are seeking convenience.

“The average customer, according to market research, is going to spend between two and three hours in the grocery store every single week. They’re going to want that time back and we’re going to be able to provide that with this service,” said Myers.

Unlike some other grocery pickup services, Walmart won’t charge extra fees regardless of how many times a consumer uses the service. There will be a $30 minimum on orders. The service is being offered daily from 8am to 8pm in Bowling Green.

Walmart already offers online grocery services in Louisville, Lexington, Henderson, and other stores in Kentucky. Walmart’s goal is to eventually offer the service at every store nationwide.
