Piketon, OH – USEC has been given six more months to gain the approval of the U.S. Department of Energy for a $2 billion loan to finish construction of a new uranium enrichment plant in Piketon, Ohio. The new plant is to one day replace the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, which has been operating for nearly 60 years. USEC still plans to temporarily stop construction at the site. Putting off building the new plant only extends the working life of the one in Paducah.
