UPDATE: School Closures and Delays

Angela Hatton

UPDATED 8:30 a.m.

Snow and slick road conditions are closing schools this morning in the northeastern part our listening area. School delays and closings listed below. Here's an update from the National Weather Service:

Light snow this morning whitened the ground in locations from Around Cape Girardeau Missouri across to Owensboro Kentucky. While Amounts were less than an inch...road and pavement surfaces in Some spots were whitened. Despite that...many locales received Only trace amounts. More snow is possible through mid morning...with the best chance For another ground whitening to occur across southern Kentucky...from Mayfield toward Madisonville. Amounts again are anticipated to be around a half inch...but start of day temperatures around or just shy of the freezing mark may allow for some light coating on roadways or pavetops...particularly if left untreated. Overall...this short-lived light snow event should have limited Impact for most area travelers. Still it is wise to make allowances For the snow and adjust your travel plans accordingly this morning. The snow will move completely out of the area by late morning or early afternoon and enough melting will occur to significantly reduce any snowfall amounts by the afternoon and evening rush hour.
