Update Friday Morning: KYTC says the new U.S. 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge opening is back on for this afternoon between noon and 3 p.m. The bridge will open to two-lane traffic.
Last night, they cited weather as a reason for pushing the move back to next week, however work through the night put the opening back on schedule, according to a release on the KYTC District 1 Facebook page.
Update Thursday Evening: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they are postponing the opening of the new U.S. 68 / KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge bridge until next week.
In a post on their Facebook page, KYTC District 1 cites weather and other factors as the reason for pushing the opening back. Public Information Officer Keith Todd says there was more rain than expected and wind created a number of issues. He says the move will come sometime next week.

The new U.S. 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge will open to two-lane traffic Friday as engineers wrap up preparations.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, crews are working around the clock to complete a checklist that includes pouring concrete barrier walls and monitoring deck support cable tension.
Once traffic is shifted to the new structure, officials will set a demolition timetable for the old bridge.
