National Trails Day Volunteer Work Day canceled: Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area has canceled the volunteer work day slated for Saturday, June 7, on the Hillman Heritage National Recreation Trail.  To celebrate National Trails Day, the Nature Station staff-led hike on Long Creek Trail will go forward as planned at 11am. June 7 on Long Creek Trail is an accessible, paved ½ mile trail. Nature Station staff will introduce visitors to the many ecosystems along the trail and within Woodlands Nature Watch Area.

Special Populations Fishing Tournament Date: Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area hosts the annual Special Populations Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 7, at Honker Lake off Forest Service Road 135, near Woodlands Nature Station. Registration for the free tournament begins at 8:30am, with fishing from 9am until 12pm.

The first Movies in the Park event of the season is tonight at dusk in Paducah’s Noble Park, featuring the animated movie "Monsters University.” Concessions are available for purchase at the Noble Park Pool concession area from 7:30-9:30. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and insect repellant. 

The Kentucky Drag Boat Association hosts drag boat races at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky Lake’s Pisgah Bay this weekend from 10 to 5 daily. Time trials are held on Saturday and the final races are on Sunday. There is a spectator fee of $5 per person; children under 12 are admitted free. Bring lawn chairs or ground blankets. The Yeiser Art Center hosts the Paducah Photo 2014 International Competition and Exhibition June 7 through July 26. The Regional Show is displayed simultaneously in the lobby of Maiden Alley Cinema. The opening reception is Saturday from 5-7 at the Yeiser Art Center. Details at theyeiser.org.
