Underwriter Spotlight: Red Roof Ranch Alpacas & Store

Red Roof Ranch Alpacas

The Alpacas are coming! The Alpacas are coming!

Fall has officially arrived. The leaves are starting to turn, and the weather's getting a little cooler - making warm socks an official priority. So what better month to welcome our new underwriters: Red Roof Ranch Alpacas & Store in Cadiz?

Red Roof Ranch Alpacas

Kathy & Rick Tinkham raise about 50 alpacas as part of their Red Roof Ranch family - including 9 little additions born this past month! As well as being a full service alpaca farm, boarding alpacas, and finding new homes for some of their own friends, they also have an alpaca store on-site. They feature their own homegrown knitting yarns, as well as a wide selection of alpaca sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves and, of course, socks!

Visitors can also meet the alpacas in person. Kathy says they started the business for the love of the animals, "they're so endearing; it's hard not to want more". She says they also liked having a fiber they could harvest without hurting the animals. "Before we had alpacas, socks were just socks - you know something to keep shoes from rubbing against your feet. But it's just a different feeling with the alpaca fiber that makes you feel comforted and warm".

The Tinkhams chose to underwrite on WKMS because they appreciate listeners who have an understanding of quality and are environmentally responsible.

You can visit Red Roof Ranch Alpacas Wednesday through Saturday from 10 to 5, find them online at redroofranch.net or on Facebook.
