Local students are leading organization efforts for the west Kentucky ‘March For Our Lives’ event.

The March 24 demonstration is in solidarity with a national rally in Washington, D.C. that  advocates for stricter gun regulations.

14-year-old Seth Adams is a student at Marshall County High School. He said he believes organizing the local march is “unifying the community” and helping him deal with the emotional trauma he endured.

Two Marshall County High School students lost their lives and more than a dozen other were injured when a shooter open fired in January.

Vanderbilt Medical Center physician Dr. Sterling Haring and local musician Alonzo Pennington will speak at the event.

Haring treated victims from the school shooting. Pennington is running as a Democrat for first district congressional seat.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park in Calvert City.
