Sounds Good Week Ahead: December 15 - 19

Here's who's featured on Sounds Good this week. Please note: Sounds Good is only an hour long each day this week. The second hour will be a variety of holiday specials, as part of our Holidays Sound Good series.

Monday, December 15

Ed and Yvonne Logan of Madisonville encourage their children to be entrepreneurs and their daughter Anyah has begun a company offering original tie-dye tees, sheets, and more. We meet Anyah and her mom today.

Light & Gold: The Music of Eric Whitacre: Eric Whitacre is one of America’s most popular composers. During this one-hour Christmas program of Whitacre’s works, he joins co-host Brian Newhouse to add the often-colorful back story of how each piece came to be. 

Tuesday, December 16

Dr. Michael Bordieri, Murray State University Assistant Professor of Psychology, joins us for the next segment in the series Understanding Depression. Hear all of our past conversations in this series

Chanukah in Story & Song: This hour-long Chanukah favorite returns with Leonard Nimoy hosting and The Western Wind performing Ladino songs, Yiddish melodies and modern Israeli tunes. Chanukah starts at sundown on December 16 and ends in the evening of December 24.

Wednesday, December 17

Murray State President Dr. Bob Davies joins us with an update on events and activities at MSU and an outlook for 201.5.

Thursday, December 18

Alissa Keller of the Museums of Downtown Hokinsville gives us a preview of "A Day with Trains" at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. Conductors run five trains on two elaborate model layouts.

Jazz Piano Christmas XXX: Enjoy this year’s Kennedy Center holiday gala with host Felix Contreras featuring pianists Cyrus  Chestnut, Kris Davis, Lynne Arriale and the  “Master” Harold Mabern. 

Friday, December 19

"Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley gives an update on Murray State Men's Basketball

A Baroque Christmas in the New World: Hear music from 17th and 18th century Mexico, Peru and Bolivia, including a cantata and three freestanding works by Manuel de Sumaya — a prominent Mexican composer of the colonial period of New Spain.
