Former U.S. Peace Corps rural AIDS educator, Tony D'Souza is tonight's presenter for the Murray State MFA Residency Reading Series that's open to all at 7:30 in Clara Eagle Gallery. His fictional works, like Mule: A Novel of Moving Weight grow from non-fictional stimuli, and have won him prestigious literary awards, national publication, and academic fellowships.
D'Souza is guest author of the Murray State MFA Residency Reading Series. Entertainment Weekly described him as a "savvy storyteller," describing Mule as a page turning-zeitgeist-capturing novel about a young couple who go to desperate measures to survive the recession. Mule was met with praise by Vanity Fair, Gawker, Kirkus, Booklist and Library Journal.
His other novels include Whiteman, which won the Sue Kaufman Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; and The Konkans, which was called the "best novel of the year" by the Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor and Poets & Writers Magazine. The latter is a thriller as well as as an interior monologue about morality, desperation, and marriage.

Readings are in the Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery on the 6th floor of the Doyle Fine Arts Building on Murray State's campus. They are free and open to the public.
