State Rep. Sannie Overly is the new chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party.
Overly also serves as House Majority Caucus Chair, and was most recently Jack Conway’s running mate during his unsuccessful gubernatorial bid last year.
Calloway County Democratic Party Vice-Chair Kathy Jo Stubblefield served on the KDP’s search committee. She says the organization’s main goal is keeping control of the state House.
“Generally, it was her grasp of these four elections and what’s going on and her ability to hit the ground running immediately in working on these four races," Stubblefield said.
Overly takes office immediately. Special elections to fill Kentucky’s four vacant state House seats are scheduled for March 8.
