Reidland-Farley Plans to Take a Loss

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – The Reidland-Farley Fire Department board has voted to borrow over a quarter-million dollars to pay for a controversial fire/rescue boat. Trustees plan to sell the boat at a loss, which could be as much as $135,000. They also voted to reject a federal grant that would pay for 75 percent, but obligate the department to respond to emergencies along some 200 miles of river waterways. The Paducah Sun reports trustees believe taking a loss on the boat is their best financial option.
