Racer Football Update with Neal Bradley

Tab Brockman, goracers.com

"The Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley joins Tracy Ross on Sounds Good to talk all things Murray State Racer football. This week, they discuss on the Racers' losses to Western Michigan and Jacksonville State, and look ahead to the game tomorrow at Cookeville versus Tennessee Tech.

Looking Back on the Western Michigan game, they were 1-11 last year, but they've since had a great recruiting year. If there was an area where the Racers hoped to match up, it was the MSU offensive line vs their defense. Bradley says they are a much better team this year and predicts they'll win maybe four or five games more games this season.

Last weekend was 'Family Weekend' at Murray State, and the home game gainst Jacksonville State began great for the Racers. From 35-28 at halftime, it ground to a halt in the second half. While the Racers won at Jacksonville State last year, this year they proved their 8th ranking in the nation at the FCS level. Now, Jacksonville State is a better team than Murray State, Bradley says, the Racers couldn't run the ball and such is the result.

Looking ahead to the Tennessee Tech game on October 4: they have major issues on the offensive line, starting four freshmen and four sophomores and also two quarterbacks at the same time as part of their strategy. One of the worst offensive teams in the league, Tennessee Tech holds up on their defensive line. It'll be their family weekend, too, so the Racers must contend with that.

Moving ahead to the Homecoming game October 11 against Southeast Missouri. One of SEMO's best players is out with a broken foot, but they've been the shock team of the league so far, beating 3rd ranked Southeastern Louisiana. Last week, they defeated Martin, something Murray State hasn't been able to do. They are a team very much on the rise.
