Race between Harvesters and River

By AP

Union City, TN – With the Mississippi River expected to crest four feet above flood stage Thursday, many western Kentucky and northwestern Tennessee farmers are trying to harvest soybeans before their fields flood. WYVY-FM in Union City, Tennessee, reports dozens of farmers worked together over the weekend, combining beans in an area known as the Upper Bottom, north of Hickman. Many are selling their beans at lower prices than usual because they have too much moisture in them.
