Illinois – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is poised to announce his choice for a running mate in his re-election bid. Yesterday, a person familiar with Quinn's selection process told The Associated Press that Quinn is looking at Sheila Simon to fill the spot. The governor is scheduled to announce his pick at 2 PM today. Simon is the daughter of the late U.S. Senator Paul Simon. She is a former assistant state's attorney for Jackson County, Illinois and served on the Carbondale City Council. Democratic Party leaders meet tomorrow to make the official pick, and Quinn says he hopes they'll go with his choice.
