Organizers of the first Providence Literary Festival plan to draw in horror fans by featuring a four-time New York Times Best Seller author with connections to the AMC hit drama The Walking Dead.

The inaugural Webster County festival will include 20 local artists as well as Illinois-based Jay Bonansinga, an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker and author of four of “The Walking Dead” zombie novels, based on the popular graphic novels by creator Robert Kirkman.

According to the organizers' webpage, Bonansinga will be doing a world premiere first reading of his next novel in the series "The Walking Dead: Descent", due out in October.

There is no charge for the festival, but the reading will have a $10 cover charge, part of which will be donated to a local food bank. The Festival begins Saturday, September 13 in the VFW at 10 AM in Providence.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
