The Paducah Police Department is warning of another phone scam targeting elderly citizens.

Police said in a release on Friday a resident reported her elderly father received a phone call from a scammer impersonating an attorney.

The scammer said the man’s grandson had been in a vehicle collision and the man needed to send $7,000 to keep his grandson out of jail.

Police say this ‘grandparent scam’ has been around for a while.

They urge citizens to never give bank account information or Social Security numbers over the phone unless the citizen initiates the call and is sure with whom they are speaking.
