Paducah Juvenile Charged in Discarded Infant Case

McCracken County Sheriff's Dept./Facebook

A Paducah juvenile has been charged with attempted murder after admitting he left an infant in a dumpster.

The 17-year-old was identified and arrested after EMS responded to a medical emergency at a residence near where the baby was found.  They then discovered a woman who had recently given birth and took her to a hospital for treatment.

Police found the infant yesterday after a witness reported a young black male disposed of the baby in a dumpster in the area of Berger Road and Goodman Drive. The child is alive and stable.

The 17 year-old male is being held at the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center, and is charged with attempted murder, criminal abuse in the first degree, and tampering with physical evidence. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department reports an investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely.
