The Paducah City Hall is now listed on the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places. Main Street Director Melinda Winchester nominated the building last December under criteria focusing on design, architecture and construction.
Famed architect Edward Durrell Stone designed the building in the early 1960s. Stone also designed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Radio City Music Hall and the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India. Funding related to the historic registry will aid in rehabilitating the building’s roof, concrete canopy, façade, heating and cooling systems, and windows.
