The Paducah Board of Commissioners introduced an ordinance to fund consulting services for upgrades to the Paducah-McCracken County Emergency Communications Center.
The ordinance has the city putting $126,086 toward hiring Virginia-based Federal Engineering to plan, design, and assist in replacing the center’s radio, telephony, and computer aided dispatch system, which has reached the end of its life cycle. The city’s funding is contingent upon equal funding from the county. The total cost of the consulting service is about $252,172.
McCracken County has yet to decide whether to contract with the Kentucky State Police for E-911 services. The Fiscal Court is holding a workshop Monday to discuss next steps.
