NRA convention coming to Louisville in 2016
By John Walker and The Associated Press
The National Rifle Association is returning to Louisville for its convention in 2016.
The event is expected to draw about 70,000 visitors. It will also come during the midst of the country's next presidential campaign. NRA spokeswoman Stephanie Samford confirmed Louisville as the 2016 convention site. Jim Wood, president and CEO of the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau, says final agreements are still being hammered out but added that the NRA has said "yes" to Louisville. The NRA held its 2008 convention in Louisville. That was an election year and the event brought presidential candidates to Kentucky's largest city. The four-million member association advocates for Second Amendment rights.
