Update February 8: Conversation on Sounds Good added
West Kentucky Community and Technical College announced Thursday the name of the main gallery in Paducah School of Art and Design's new 2D and Graphic Design Building. The recognition goes to Paducah artist and interior designer Bill Ford.
Ford says he was approached by Carson-Myre Charitable Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Judge Bill Howerton two years ago about the honor and was asked to keep it a secret until the completion of a campaign to fund the art school’s expansion. “And I said, ‘well I would be most honored.’ I said, ‘that’s about the nicest thing that’s ever happened to me.’ And I said ‘and you’re doing this while I’m still alive! I’ll see it!’"
Ford is a Memphis, Tennessee native, working in Paducah for 25 years, serving on the boards of Paducah Chamber of Commerce, Child Watch, Yeiser Art Center and Paducah Symphony Orchestra. The gallery is one of several named areas in the new building following a successful campaign to fund the Paducah art school expansion.
PSAD hosts a public open house for the 2D and Graphic Design Building on March 31.
