The Murray State Rifle Team begins the fall season as the number 2 team in the nation. That’s according to The College Rifle Coaches Association annual preseason poll released over the weekend.
The Racers, led by head coach Alan Lollar, were beat out for the top spot last season by four-time defending NCAA champion West Virginia.
But MSU topped all other Ohio Valley Conference opponents in the poll with Jacksonville State at 11th, Morehead State at 17 and UT Martin at 19.
MSU faces 9 Top 20 teams throughout the 2016-2017 season and see their first match at home in the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range September 25th against UT Martin.
